Omoayo Osoba
Artist Statement
I am a stylized painter, and I major in portraiture and semi figurative compositions, this mix contributes to my status of being able to evolve in style and techniques.
My type of art requires me to always pronounce a striking statement to my subjects lips and mouth which are commonly noticeable. These obvious statements allow me to take my viewers into that emotional flow of freedom of interpretation for every piece I create. Acrylic paint and polymer are mediums I blend with while I create. I draw inspiration from quietness, nature, faces ,music, new environment, practically building up images from a small distorted form to a work of art fit for visualization .
Giving a striking consciousness to my images. I always work on emphasizing the eyes and lips to present this omniscience and bold facial expressions with great panache at sight, leaving their garments with different polymer patterns sometimes, and then representing my background with vibrant colors and fingerprints.
I explore the theme of individualism, originality, uniqueness, stillness and calmness. To be expected unique implies singularity and the state of being without a known parallel).
My motive for my practice is to build self-worth ,confidence and elegance through my works and also promote our rich African culture.
I want my works to speak this Universal language of self-worth, elegance, individual uniqueness, and also broadcast our rich African culture.
